It’s such a joy to see my long-time friends build careers, explore the world, and find someone to join the ride with them. This is exactly the case with Jamie, a friend I’ve known since I was five. We’ve gone through kindergarten together, elementary school playing friend-or-foe, even had a brief dating stint when we were eleven, and then graduated high school. Because of our history I guess I’ve had a bit of an over-protective mindset when it comes to anyone he dates, making sure they measure up and are the perfect match. Well he definitely found the perfect girl in Stephanie!
Jamie and I had kept in touch messaging through Facebook over the years and one conversation we had was about a girl he had met who was from Halifax. I could tell he really liked her and soon enough they were moving in together and he was telling me “she was the one”. Every now and then I’d prod and ask when he was going to pop the question and he told me the next year he was planning for it. His proposal to Stephanie was one for the books! Last Christmas when they were opening gifts with his parents Jamie gave Steph a series of gifts with one common theme. A red apple, a steak, a Kate Spade wallet, and a red rose. All signature items of New York! They took a trip to NYC and, of course, had to go to the top of the Empire State Building. It was there, overlooking the magical city, where he proposed. And I can see why he wanted everything to be so special. Stephanie is someone who makes you want to be a great person. Who’s smile is infectious. Who’s sweet and kind and funny. Who can rock a hot dress and then smash a volleyball or tee-off on the golf course. She is so deserving of being spoiled with love each day and Jamie knows this. These two are such a great match, constantly laughing and having a great time. I honestly can’t wait till their wedding, it’s going to be so much fun and full of laughs but it’s also extra special that I get to see my childhood friend marry the girl of his dreams.
