This year I celebrated my “first 29th” birthday and I decided to host a little party for the occasion. With everyone going all out for their 30th birthdays I thought I’d end off my twenties on a high note. I’ve always loved my birthstone, amethyst, so I thought I’d center the decor pieces around the violet gem. I made sure to have plenty of desserts and fun touches like a little polaroid station where we could take photos all night. The showstopper was that gorgeous (and delicious) cake by Truffle and cupcakes topped with rock candy.
A funny note to all this is that my husband tried to throw me a surprise party. I was sort of wavering on whether or not to have a party so he contacted all my friends and they were all in on it and ready with all the ideas I had mentioned. I started to organize one myself so while they were trying to keep the secret, he ended up having to tell me what was planned and let me just take over. The night was perfect with friends just having a good time. Each year I get more and more thankful for the friendships that I have. Those people who I’ve known for ever and those I have only just met who have shaped my life and support me throughout it all. I really lucked out in the friend department and I couldn’t be happier going into this year and the years to come with them by my side.
