Oh this wedding! This wedding is full of beautiful details that prove how intimate weddings can pack a big punch! Kelly and Chris chose to invite their closest friends and family to their cottage/home located right on Star Lake near Rosseau. With a setting like this, they let the lake, view and surrounding trees take center stage. Throughout the summer they spent their free time working on projects and prepping the property for their August wedding. And boy did they do a great job! It was the perfect space that was both beautiful and sentimental.
When I arrived that morning there were dark skies and it was pouring rain. Everyone was helping out and Plan B was in full effect. I swear, right as Kelly slipped on her dress the rain stopped. Other than some drops of water off trees, the skies cleared for their ceremony. Surrounded by loved ones and looking out on the lake they said their personalized vows to each other. After the “I do’s” everyone was greeted with champagne, canapes, an oyster bar and a string quartet. We took family photos and everyone mingled and chatted overlooking the beautiful lake. For dinner they hired an incredible chef from one of their favourite restaurants in Rosseau – I have to say, that dinner was one of the best reception dinners I’ve ever had! (And she prepped and made everything in a quaint cottage kitchen!) During the speeches there was such a strong sense of how much these two have been through so much and have helped make each other stronger, better people. There were two things that stood out with them and their families – trust and the fight. The fight to keep going through thick and thin and the trust to know who has your back throughout it all. I couldn’t help but feel proud to be there and to be a part of such a meaningful day.
Since they love to support their local area, they hired a band from Parry Sound to get the party started! We danced, took shots, danced some more – all under the starring night! It was an amazing day and I’m so happy for the two of them.
Right after dinner the grey skies cleared and the most gorgeous sunset appeared! We quickly went down to the water to take some portraits and in about two minutes it was gone. It was a magical moment to have everything covered in the prettiest pinks after having a day full of grey skies and rain.
