Stephanie and Jamie were married on August 15th at Liscombe Lodge in Nova Scotia. Instead of having a single day celebration, they decided to invite friends and family for a weekend getaway to a place near and dear to Steph’s heart. She grew up near-by and spent her summers working at the resort so it made perfect sense to have their wedding there – it was also a perfect opportunity to showcase what the East Coast is known for, their hospitality. On the Friday before the wedding, guests were invited to a welcome BBQ and bonfire. We spent the evening around the fire roasting marshmallows and enjoying our own personal concert put on by Steph, her sisters and her dad – they all have incredible voices and guitar skills and should basically just be a traveling music group.
The day of the wedding was perfect – clear blue skies, warm temperatures and an easy-going atmosphere. The girls were all laughs as they got ready and my face hurt by the time we left the hair salon. The guys were also having a relaxing morning. Jamie has known his groomsmen since he was little and his brother was his best man. I also grew up with these guys throughout school so it made for an easy-going, fun time just hanging out.
Their ceremony took place by the water surrounded by beautiful trees and landscaped lawns. Their vows were meaningful, sincere and full of love and when they signed their marriage documents, Steph’s dad played the guitar and sang a song.
We explored the beautiful grounds at Liscombe Lodge for photos with the bridal party – these guys were hilarious. Normally, I will try and tell jokes to get some laughs but I had to ask them to stop laughing for a second to take some more formal photos. Both Jamie and Steph have such incredible people in their lives and the best group to be surrounded by. Steph and her sisters have an amazing relationship and friendship and during speeches it was apparent how much they love Steph and validated how great of a person she is. Her sister Nikki put it well, saying that Steph got all the “niceness” in their family. She is considerate, sweet and caring. Since I grew up with Jamie, the speeches about him were so much more meaningful. I can vouch that he is as amazing as everyone says. His brother put it perfectly, that even though Jamie is the younger brother of the two, he looks up to him. He is a fighter and truly amazes everyone in his life. Needless to say, I was thankful to have a camera in front of my face to hid the tears streaming down during those speeches!
The party lasted way into the night and we got to witness more of that East Coast flare with Celtic dance moves and folk music. This was an incredible trip and wedding – and even more incredible because I got to document and be present for one of my oldest friend’s and new friend’s weddings. Congratulations Stephanie and Jamie!
Steph wore a stunning Essense of Australia A-Line vintage lace dress that fit her perfectly.
Steph’s favourite colour is purple so it was used throughout the details. From the bridesmaid dresses to the groomsmen’s ties to the beautiful florals by The Crafty Penguin.
Steph and her mom made the classic white cake – amazing!
Both Steph and Jamie love to golf (as can be seen in their engagement photos) so the golf game was a fun, personal touch to the evening.
